ARCHOICES

ARChoices is an Arkansas Medicaid program that includes home and community-based services for adults ages 21 through 64 with a physical disability and seniors age 65 or older.  These services can offer help doing everyday activities that may now be challenging for you or a loved one. Some of these activities may be: bathing, dressing, getting around in the home, preparing meals, or doing household chores.

Superior Senior Care is certified to provide caregiver referrals for the following ARChoices services:

  • Attendant Care — Attendant Care services are designed to reduce or prevent inappropriate institutionalization by maintaining, strengthening or restoring an eligible beneficiary’s functioning in his or her own home or elsewhere in the community where the beneficiary engages in activities, including work-related activities.
Attendant care services consist of assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs) and health-related tasks through hands-on assistance, supervision and/or cueing.
  • Personal Emergency Response System —The Personal Emergency Response System (PERS) is an in-home, 24-hour electric support system with two-way verbal and electronic communication with an emergency control center. PERS enables an elderly, infirm or homebound individual to secure immediate help in the event of a physical, emotional or environmental emergency.
  • Respite — provides temporary relief to a primary caregiver who is providing long-term care for individuals in their homes. It may be provided outside the client’s home to meet an emergency need or as periodic scheduled relief.
  • Environment Accessibility Adaptations/Adaptive Equipment — Environmental Accessibility Adaptations/Adaptive Equipment services enable the individual to increase, maintain and/or improve his or her functional capacity to perform daily life tasks that would not be possible otherwise. Environmental Accessibility Adaptations/Adaptive Equipment is physical adaptations to the home that are necessary to ensure the health, welfare and safety of the beneficiary, to function with greater independence in the home and preclude or postpone institutionalization. Adaptive equipment also enables the Alternatives beneficiary to increase, maintain and/or improve his/her functional capacity to perform daily life tasks that would not be possible otherwise and perceive, control or communicate with the environment in which he or she lives.
PERSONAL CARE

Personal care services referred by Superior Senior Care are primarily based on the assessed physical dependency need for “hands-on” services with daily living activities. These include: eating, bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, toileting and ambulating. Hands-on assistance in at least one of these areas is required to qualify for Personal Care under Medicaid. This type of assistance is provided by a personal care aide based on a beneficiary’s physical dependency needs (as opposed to purely housekeeping services). The tasks the aide performs are similar to those that a nurse’s aide would normally perform if the beneficiary were in a hospital or nursing facility.

TARGETED CASE MANAGEMENT

These services are provided by a health-care professional referred by Superior Senior Care and include the assessment of abilities and needs, coordination of services, and on-going monitoring of the condition of the client as well as the quality of services being delivered by the various other providers.
